Director: Fintan Smyth
Fintan began his career as an apprentice fitter in Bord na Móna, the state agency for peat extraction and utilities. After qualifying, he moved to the main dealer for Savills (international tractors, construction) where he gained experience as a workshop foreman. Fintan then moved to the Komatsu dealer Tracel, where he was the service manager for over 20 years. When the dealership changed hands in 1987, Fintan moved with the dealership and held the role of service manager with the new incumbent for a further five years. By 1993, with around 30 years of industry acumen behind him, Fintan felt it was time to strike out on his own. He established FJS Plant on the outskirts of Naas and 20 years later, he is still a leader and source of inspiration for the FJS team.
Director: Frank Smyth
Frank started his career with Philip McCormack Plant, holders of the main dealership for Moxy Dump trucks and Daewoo, where he worked as a field service engineer. From there Frank moved on to ASCON (BAM) where he specialised as the hydraulic and electrical fault-finding technician on the crane fleet. After two years with ASCON, Frank moved to McHale Plant Sales (a Komatsu dealership) to gain further experience within a main dealer environment. Not long after commencing his employment there, Frank was appointed as technical support engineer for the eastern and western regions. In 2003, Frank joined the family business, coming in as a partner to Fintan and Joan, his parents. Here, he gained first-hand experience in parts and sales within the industry.
Frank is currently the Managing Director of FJS Plant, a role which requires a considerable focus on business development.
